Travel Booby

Featured on this tag is a Blue-Footed Booby, a seabird with brightly colored feet and a fantastic mating display. These birds can be found all the way from the Gulf of California to South America and Peru, with many of them nesting on the Galápagos Islands.
A new study shows that the Blue-Footed Booby’s population is declining on theGalápagos Islands. Today, their numbers are about 6,000 – 7,000, compared to 20,000 in the 1960’s. At the same time, the sardine population has fallen greatly. Past research has shown that sardines make up most of the Booby’s diet, especially during breeding time. A lack of sardines results in underfed seabirds and few newborns. Read more here:http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2014/04/140425-galapagos-blue-footed-booby-endangered-birds-science-animals/
